SoftIron, a new UK technology business, has recently been awarded a Solent Green Growth fund grant to help them develop and commercialise low-energy server technology globally from a base here in the Solent region.
After careful scrutiny SoftIron have been awarded a Future Solent Green Growth fund grant to help them develop and commercialise their new low-energy server technology. SoftIron will base itself in the region and, when successful, will look to establish a significant presence here in terms of technology research, development and global commercialization.
The current world market for computer servers is in excess of $50bn / year. The share of this market for low-energy servers is currently minimal but is forecast to grow considerably over the next few years as low-energy server technology matures. SoftIron are amongst the world leaders in the field of low-energy servers and are looking to produce the world’s first ultra-low-energy Linux server. Once deployed these servers will lead to significant energy and CO2 savings.
In response to being awarded the grant, Norman Fraser, technology pioneer and SoftIron CEO, said “I am delighted that we have been awarded this grant, and I look forward to building a major technology success story in the region that takes this new British technology global.”
